The Bible on Film: A Checklist, 1897-1980
Published in Hardcover by Scarecrow Press (November, 1981)
Average review score:

definitive book for biblical moviesthis is the definitive book for biblical movies. not only does it cover all the films based on the new testament (as later copycat books did) it is still the ONLY book to detail all films based on the old testament. the old testament films are covered first; read all about the classics like "Samoson And Delilah" and "David And Bethsheba". then the new testament films are covered -- everything from silents to "Jesus Christ Superstar", and everything inbetween, like "Quo Vadis" and "Gospel Road". there's even a section on tv shows that relate to the bible; and tv movies are listed, of course. many b/w photos. over 200 pages. hardcover. hard book to find, but well worth it. this book needs updated. hopefully, scarecrow will do so soon. contact them and ask them to update this gem. you'll enjoy this informative volume.

Bible Study Book
Published in Paperback by 1stBooks Library (November, 2001)
Average review score:

Bible is not InerrantGenerally using a question/answer format,Barr shows that the Bible has many contradictions in it. Both testaments frequently have more than one account of an event. For example,"What method was used in loading the animals into Noah's ark?" 2 of every kind Gen 6.19 and by sevens Gen 7. "Who was Christ's father?" gives us 3 Biblical answers: God Matt 1;18;Joseph Matt 13;55; and First begotten of the dead Rev.1:5. Barr cites hundred of examples of contradictions or multiple versions of the incident. Excellent book for people not committed to the inerrancy of the Bible.A real eye-opener to what the KJV actually says.

A very special and experienced wisdomCollaboratively compiled and co-edited by lifelong naturalists Campbell and Lynn Loughmiller, Big Thicket Legacy is a compendium of engaging and informative anecdotes about life and living in the Big Thicket country, which is a nearly impassable area of Texas territory that only a few pioneers dared to brave. In those days, only the heartiest of individuals and families could call a place within the heart of the Big Thicket home; their tales have become a part of Texas folklore, and in Big Thicket Legacy are preserved to available to the general reading public, thereby recounting a very special experienced wisdom for new generations of Texans.

Average review score:

MY 6-YEAR-OLD BOY IS CRAZY ABOUT THESE BOOKS!After I read them (the Young Cousins Mysteries books--another one is called SNEAKY THIEF, about a ferrett, which he also loves), he can then read them by himself with just a little bit of help from me.
AND THEN--he is off and flying!! He reads them over and over. He really likes the 3 cousins. His favorite is Timothy, I think.

Body and Mind
Published in Paperback by Univ of Notre Dame Pr (August, 1984)
Average review score:

Intro to the Mind-Body ProblemI was required to read Body and Mind for my undergraduate cognitive science class. This book presents a very good, but sometimes dated, introduction to the classical mind-body problem of philosophy. It outlines the paradox of mind-body reasoning and goes over most of the potential solutions. His conclusion at the end is probably a bit presumptuous and unreasonable (he favors epiphenomenalism), but his critical discussion of the various theories is very good. I would very highly recommend this book for an introduction to the mind-body problem.

Boston Pilgrims Vs Pittsburgh Pirates
Published in Paperback by Millbrook Press (24 March, 2003)
Average review score:

Great Gift for Baseball Lovers!!Anyone who loves baseball will love this book. It's a fascinating tale about the early development of baseball and its transformation into the modern-day game, and of the game's first World Series between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Boston Pilgrims. (They later became the Boston Red Sox.) In addition to providing highlights and statistics on the Series, which was won by Boston, 5 games to 3 games, the book is packed with illustrations and original photographs. The book also provides a bibliography for those who wish to read more on the subject. It makes a great gift for youngsters who are just getting interested in the game.

BREAKUP
Published in Hardcover by Free Press (October, 1997)
Average review score:

effectively challenges one of the basic tenets of managementThis book is a must read for progressive managers. It provides indisputable evidence of the trend to anti-conglomeration and sets out in detail the U.S. companies within the top 100 that are prime candidates for such splits. For general business readers, it provides a critical review of a previously unchallenged business thesis- that bigger is better. This book is bound to be the talk of the business commentator circuit and the handbook for the Wall St. rainmakers.
